FAQ

The questions we get in our Instagram inbox every month, answered once.

I've never danced salsa. Can I come?

Yes, and you'll be in good company. Pick a night with a class (it says so on the event page), turn up for the start of the class, and you'll be dancing within the hour. Nobody will judge you; everyone on that floor started somewhere, including Karen in 2013.

Do I need a partner?

No. Salsa is a social dance: in the class you rotate partners, and in the social people ask each other to dance all night. Most of our regulars come on their own.

What time should I arrive?

If there's a class, be in the door by 7:30pm so you're warmed up for 7:45pm. If it's a social-only night, doors are 8pm and the floor fills up by 9. Last dance is usually 1am.

How much is it and how do I pay?

£12 in advance online (card, Apple Pay or Google Pay), or on the door if there's room. Advance tickets are cheaper and guarantee your place. All-day workshop days are priced separately.

What music do you play?

100% salsa, played by the UK's top salsa DJs: mambo, salsa dura, son, salsa romántica, a little cha cha. Blink and you might catch one bachata. We book DJs who love the music and aren't afraid to leave the safe zone.

What do I wear?

Whatever you can move in. Shoes with a smooth sole (dance shoes, leather soles or trainers that slide) make life easier on a wooden floor. Bring a spare top; you will get warm.

Is there a bar? Can I bring drinks?

There's a club bar with proper club prices. Outside drinks aren't allowed in the venue. Water is free; ask at the bar.

Where do I park?

Free car park at the rear of Crigglestone WMC, plus street parking on High Street. We're three minutes from junction 39 of the M1.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets are non-refundable, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else if you message us first. If we ever have to cancel an event, you get a full refund.

Is the venue accessible?

The entrance and the main hall are step-free, with seating all the way around the floor. If you have specific access needs, message us before the night and we'll make it work.

I'm travelling from outside Yorkshire. Where do I stay?

Premier Inn Wakefield South is two minutes away; there are six more hotels within a £5 taxi ride at junction 39/40. See the venue page for the list.

Still wondering? Message Karen. Or just come: the answer to most questions is "you'll be fine".
