The night

The halls will be decked, the floor will be full and the playlist will be festive in exactly zero ways. Beginners' taster class in the first hour, then social dancing till late.

Our Christmas party is the night the whole Yorkshire salsa family turns up. Last year we had Jaleh Fallah teaching an Absolute Beginners On2 class in the first hour and the floor was rammed by nine o'clock.

This year's teacher and DJ will be announced on Instagram shortly. Expect a class you can walk into with two left feet, mince pies on the bar, and the kind of night that makes January bearable.

Tickets are £12 in advance. Bring your friends who've 'always wanted to try salsa'. This is the night for it.

Good to know

I've never danced salsa. Can I come?

Yes, and you'll be in good company. Pick a night with a class (it says so on the event page), turn up for the start of the class, and you'll be dancing within the hour. Nobody will judge you; everyone on that floor started somewhere, including Karen in 2013.

Do I need a partner?

No. Salsa is a social dance: in the class you rotate partners, and in the social people ask each other to dance all night. Most of our regulars come on their own.

What time should I arrive?

If there's a class, be in the door by 7:30pm so you're warmed up for 7:45pm. If it's a social-only night, doors are 8pm and the floor fills up by 9. Last dance is usually 1am.

How much is it and how do I pay?

£12 in advance online (card, Apple Pay or Google Pay), or on the door if there's room. Advance tickets are cheaper and guarantee your place. All-day workshop days are priced separately.
